Here at NPBC we believe that worship through music is a key ingredient that brings a congregation into the very presence of our Holy God.
The Adult Choir meets for practice each Sunday morning at 9am.
Praise and Worship along with Hymns and our powerful choir, brings about an exciting time of praise and adoration to our Lord and Savior.
Our music ministry is led by Jason and Missy Waldroup. What a true blessing they are! You can reach them at jason.waldroup@northpointbaptist.com . Also, check out their website at www.jasonandmissy.org
Jason & Missy Waldroup
BIO
Jason
Jason Waldroup began his singing career just after high school graduation. Born in Carrollton, Georgia to Wayne and Ramona Waldroup, Jason was always the little singer boy. He sang in church all through childhood. After high school, he was offered the position of tenor singer with the successful Southern Gospel trio, Greater Vision. Jason traveled and sang tenor with Greater Vision for the next thirteen years. After a year of traveling, he met his future wife, Missy. They married and over the next few years, had three beautiful children: Abbie, Jonathon and Ella. Jason began to feel God urging him to go Bible College and gain a deeper understanding of God’s word. He didn’t necessarily want to leave Greater Vision, so the decision to leave the ministry and friendships of the group did not come easily for him. Jason finally left the group in August of 2008.
Missy
Missy Payton was born on the road. She recorded her first album (it was technically a 45 record) at the age of 5. She traveled with her parents, John and Sandy Payton on the road with their group, the JoSan Singers from birth until college. John and Sandy began to travel to different churches around the country to conduct choral workshops. Essentially like a choir revival, they brought new music, training, organization and inspiration to church choirs and their directors. Missy began to work with her parents at a young age, teaching all the female vocal parts. In high school, Missy was involved in chorus, vocal competitions and dramas. She also attended the Stamps Baxter School of Music for 2 weeks each summer of High School. After high school, she attended Belmont University and studied for a degree in Vocal Performance with a Music Business emphasis. During college, Missy attended the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky with her parents. It was there that she was introduced to the handsome young tenor singer with Greater Vision. The two had their first date at a Singing News Magazine bowling event and the rest is history. Missy has spent almost 20 years as a piano teacher and vocal coach. In 2009, She returned to Stamps Baxter School of Music, this time as a vocal coach.
The Team
Individually, these two talented musicians have ministered and worked separately for the last 13 years of their marriage. In 2008, Jason left Greater Vision with a desire to go to Bible College. He enrolled in classes and accepted the position of Worship Pastor at Central Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Missy worked on staff as the Children’s Ministry Special Events Coordinator and assisted Jason in the music department, directing praise teams, preschool choir and youth choir. For two years, this couple poured their heart and soul into the ministry at Central.
In 2010, they left Houston and were faced with the challenge of seeking God’s direction for their future. After having faced devastating trials and heartache, they wanted, more than anything, to glorify God with the talents He gave them and to encourage hurting people with their testimony. God began to work in their hearts and create a desire to minister together, something neither ever believed would happen. In awe of God’s provision, over the next few months, the couple began to see that God was leading them and honoring their obedience.
In the midst of their healing process, they found North Point Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia. This church family and its’ Pastor became an encouragement and support for Jason and Missy. After five months of attending North Point as members, they have recently joined the full-time staff of the church as the Worship Ministry Team. Jason and Missy work together to orchestrate the congregation worship music, choir and band of North Point. Jason has recently renovated the sound and light systems of the church. They have redefined the purpose of the choir as an outreach tool and worship music support team. The Choir at North Point is and always will be an invaluable part of the worship services. The band has been expanded and has begun weekly rehearsals. They are sounding better than ever!
Jason and Missy Waldroup are also ministering in concerts whenever their schedule allows. They are leading in worship and providing special music in churches and concert events. You can check out their website at: http://www.jasonandmissy.org/
Jason and Missy have their focus on leading people to Christ and glorifying God through their music. They want to encourage Christians that God is still working in lives and hearts. God is still restoring broken vessels. Their testimony of redemption brings hope to those struggling to find God in the midst of a broken world and will remind Christians of what a loving, rescuing God we serve!
